Talent Xpanse is the search partner with a leading nonprofit organization seeking a Manager of Total Rewards. This pivotal role involves designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive rewards programs, including benefits and compensation, that align with strategic objectives and enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.

Overview: The Manager of Total Rewards will play a critical role in shaping and managing comprehensive total rewards programs to support strategic objectives and foster a culture of employee engagement and satisfaction. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing competitive and equitable compensation structures, incentive programs, and employee benefits packages. The Total Rewards Manager collaborates closely with senior leadership, HR colleagues, and external stakeholders to ensure that total rewards strategies align with organizational goals, industry best practices, and legal requirements. Key responsibilities include conducting market analysis, managing compensation planning processes, overseeing benefits administration, and providing guidance on total rewards programs to enhance employee attraction, retention, and motivation.

Areas of Contribution & Core Responsibilities :

  • In partnership with Senior Management Group, develop, implement, and administer competitive compensation and benefits programs that align with organizational goals, industry best practices, and legal requirements.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of market trends, benchmarking data, and competitive practices to ensure compensation and benefits offerings remain competitive and equitable.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, HR team members, and external consultants to evaluate and recommend enhancements to the total rewards strategies and programs.
  • Lead annual compensation planning processes, including salary budgeting, merit increase cycles, and incentive programs, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and organizational priorities.
  • Develop and maintain job classification and evaluation processes to ensure positions are appropriately categorized and compensated based on their relative value, skills, and responsibilities.
  • Recommend and propose salary offers based on market data and internal compensation analysis ensuring pay equity across the organization by monitoring and addressing any disparities based on gender, race, ethnicity, or other protected characteristics, while also ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Equal Pay Act.
  • Administer employee benefits programs as set by leadership, including health, wellness, retirement, and other fringe benefits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and vendor management.
  • Oversee the communication and education of total rewards programs to employees, providing guidance and support to address inquiries and ensure understanding of available offerings.
  • Partner with HR leadership to develop and deliver training sessions and workshops on total rewards topics, fostering a culture of appreciation and recognition.
  • In collaboration with Finance leadership, ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of compensation and benefits-related expenses.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, legislation, and best practices in total rewards, recommending adjustments to programs and policies as necessary to remain competitive and compliant.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and brokers to optimize services and resources related to compensation, benefits, and other total rewards programs.
  • Support employees on a day-to-day basis and answer questions about benefits and organizational policies.
  • Advises and instructs department management staff and employees regarding the proper methods and procedures to use on a variety of compensation and benefits matters, programs, and issues involving policy or labor law.
  • Manage complex and/or sensitive HR functions and services including salary and benefit data research and analysis, benefits program enrollment processes and maintenance, investigation and preparation of management cases regarding employee grievances, appeals and complaints; preparation, presentation and evaluation of agency-wide training programs, and completion of special studies and reports relating to a variety of Human Resource program activities.
  • Understand and provide support and management of HRIS database(s) including appropriate data input, reporting, and integration related to compensation and benefits.
  • Treat employees as internal customers and increase their satisfaction and engagement.
  • Identify trends that could affect organizational objectives and /or operational resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CCP, CBP, CEBS), a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in total rewards, compensation, and benefits management, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits principles, practices, and regulations, including familiarity with relevant laws such as FLSA, ERISA, ACA, and ADA.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing competitive compensation structures, incentive programs, and employee benefits packages.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, conduct market analysis, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven project management capabilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, compensation management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle complex issues with an employee-centric focus and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Working ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, employees, employee representatives and the public.
  • Previous work experience with labor unions a plus, not required.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish fluency), a plus.

Estimated annual compensation range: $106,327 - $112,234
