As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will be the key part of how our operating rooms care for our patients. Surgery would not be possible if it were not for Sterile Processing Technicians. A whole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room. You will be working frontline to ensure the safety of patients. Your primary duties include: Assembling, sterilizing, organizing, packing, and wrapping all surgical instruments. Standing and lifting for extended periods of time. Understanding the importance of the decontamination process. Monitoring and controlling the surgical instrument inventory.The ideal caregiver is someone who: Is always energetic. When you join Cleveland Clinic, you'll be part of a supportive caregiver family that will be united in shared values and purpose to fulfill our promise of being the best place to receive care and the best place to work in healthcare.Responsibilities: Supports department initiatives to meet productivity standard and flexible staffing needs.Demonstrates understanding on proper handling of equipment, instrumentation, chemicals, performs preventative maintenance, observes personal protective equipment standards in decontamination process.Scans, sorts, inspects and assembles instruments by instrument list, wraps and labels as documented in procedure.Monitors and controls the issue of supplies and equipment.Performs record keeping.Other duties as assigned.Education: HS diploma or equivalent GED required.Certifications: If hired after 1/1/2018 Sterile Processing Distribution certification(CRST) by IAHCSMM or CBSPD required within 2 years following completing new hire plexity of Work:Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment.Work Experience: One year health care experience or similar background in mechanical/manufacturing assembly preferred.Military experience such as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar will be considered.Physical Requirements: Lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull and navigate supply carts weighing >than 75 pounds.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
