Specific responsibilities include:
• Comply with Company rules, operating and safety procedures, and all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
• Ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working condition.
• Check and complete all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
• Load, transport, and unload each shipment from origin to destination without unnecessary delay. Complete and submit pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports on a daily basis.
• Report all accidents and injuries to supervisor, regardless of how minor.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Check conditions of trailers after contents have been loaded or unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as keeping the truck cab interior clean, cleaning windshields, checking and maintaining all fluid levels and tire pressure, and re-fueling the truck.
Personal qualifications and attributes necessary for successful performance in this role include:
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
• Two (2) years of Class A driving experience required.
• Current CDL with X endorsement (tank trailer and hazmat).
• Minimum 23 years of age.
• Must pass a current DOT physical.
• Able to provide complete work history for the past 10 years; no more than a combination of 3 moving violation citations or preventable accidents.
• Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect safety of self and others.
• Willing and able to work 14 hour shifts, driving 11 hours each shift.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to coordinate multiple projects/requests at one time.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Ability to make decisions when necessary and work with minimal direction or supervision.
• Must have sense of urgency, strong work ethic and positive attitude.
