Modern Hydrogen has an immediate opening for a talented and versatile IT Manager. As the IT Manager, you will manage all aspects of our IT ecosystem, ensuring seamless operations & support and top-notch security & compliance. As an IT team of one, you will have the opportunity to not only devise strategic IT solutions but also roll up your sleeves to implement them. 

You will be expected to work in our Woodinville, WA facility at least 5 days per week and attend quarterly company events in the Seattle area. These events are geared towards fostering connections between colleagues, building a strong team, and having fun together. 

Modern Hydrogen is a Seattle-based cleantech startup. We decarbonize natural gas into clean hydrogen at the point of use. With $100MM in venture capital raised from world-renowned investors including Bill Gates to support our vision, we are seeking best-in-class talent to accelerate our impact. The race to decarbonize the planet is on, and our technology has enormous potential to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors of the economy.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all IT functions at Modern Hydrogen, including hardware, software, and services 

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for the IT department aligned with Modern Hydrogen’s IT and business goals 

  • Provide high-quality and timely technical support, resolving issues through effective troubleshooting with an emphasis on providing excellent customer service 

  • Ensure the security of our systems complies with internal, customer, and regulatory requirements (ISO 27001) and industry best practices 

  • Implement and optimize IT processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction 

  • Administer company SaaS and cloud resources, especially Microsoft 365 used company-wide 

  • Administer other IT tasks including engineering software support, hardware, networking, and conference room maintenance, and laptop and server administration 

  • Oversee industrial automation, including remote operations and monitoring, and cloud-based data storage 

  • Manage vendors and contractors to ensure all IT projects and tasks are fulfilled in a timely manner 

  • Other duties as assigned 

Skills and Experience: 

  • Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar field 

  • 5 years of experience in information technology administration and security 

  • Experience in Windows system administration for businesses 

  • Knowledge of IT tasks including secure networking, Linux system administration, hardware and software management 

  • Ability to identify, select, and manage vendors for IT tasks 

  • Interest in overseeing our entire IT ecosystem, including rapidly learning new technologies the company requires, and identifying solutions to new business challenges 

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced R&D environment 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar 

  • Experience with implementing and maintaining ISO 27001 requirements 

  • Experience implementing intellectual property security measures on internal information systems 

  • Experience with industrial control systems, database administration, or engineering data storage platforms 

  • Microsoft, CompTIA, CISSP, Cisco or other relevant industry certifications 

  • Experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems 

  • Programming experience (such as JavaScript or Python)
