Community Solutions Inc is Hiring a Food Services Manager Near Windsor, CT

Community Solutions, Inc. is in search of a Food Services Manager to lead our Food Services team in providing high quality meals for our client population. General functions include oversight of meals, supplies, and inventories, as well as general upkeep of the kitchen and storage areas. In addition, the Food Services Manager will supervise the Food Service Department, including managing employee time and attendance, performance reviews, and interviewing candidates.

Community Solutions Inc. (CSI) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the responsible citizenship, accountability, and well-being of individuals and families involved, or at risk of involvement, in the child welfare, juvenile justice, or criminal justice system. Since CSIs founding in 1962, it has been a pioneer in the community-based service. We have been delivering supervision, treatment, and comprehensive individualized services to help clients interact more effectively in their communities and become productive citizens. Using this plan we built the first ever halfway house in New England which has now been replicated and grown to almost 50 programs in 9 states. For over 50 years, CSI has been building upon its successful foundations and has been expanding its services to serve thousands of adults, youth, and families each year.

CSI understands clients and staff have been impacted by trauma. CSI is becoming a trauma-informed organization by hiring individuals with existing experience in trauma-informed practices as well as supporting ongoing staff development with trauma-informed practices. This will include learning to recognize symptoms of trauma and how to respond, through training starting at orientation and throughout their career at CSI. CSI is committed to systematically evaluating the integration of the trauma-informed values of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment at all levels of the organization's policies, procedures, and structures to guard against the possibility of re-traumatization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In accordance with the established agency cycle menu, prepare and serve food for the noon and evening meals. Provide food items for residents who work or are in training, so that they may take lunches with them on work days. Set aside food for residents' breakfast daily and for weekends.
  • Maintain adequate amount of food and supplies and maintain accurate records of such.
  • Complete service requisitions for food and supplies. Accept delivery and ensure proper storage of all food items.
  • Ensure that kitchen is neat, clean and orderly.
  • Supervise residents assigned to kitchen and dining area cleaning tasks.
  • Maintain personal cleanliness at all times, which includes clean hands and fingernails and wearing hairnets or caps, plastic gloves and clean washable garments.
  • Communicate to Program Directors any relevant information pertaining to facility food service issues and any deviations of policy and procedure (noncompliance) by assigned kitchen workers on an as needed basis.
  • Conduct annual review of four cycle menu and revise as necessary.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all city, state and federal health codes.
  • Make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with same for food, all kitchen equipment and facilities in each program.
  • Manage food supplies and other job responsibilities in accordance with established budgets.
  • Prepare and deliver appealing meals for all assigned facilities.
  • Organize, manage and supervise general kitchen preparation, storage and cleaning activities.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and abide by the Agency's programs, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • minimum 3 years experience in food services.
  • Certification from an accredited food service program.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft office suite.
  • Valid drivers license.
