Natco Home Group is Hiring a Human Resources & Payroll Specialist Near Warwick, RI

As an HR & Payroll Specialist you will play a crucial role in helping the Director of Human Resources to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our HR department. You will handle managing the entire payroll process, including processing employee pay, keeping accurate records, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Additionally, you will be assisting with various HR functions such as recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration.
To succeed in this role, you must have a deep understanding of HR best practices, ADP Workforce Now payroll processing, Federal & State employment laws and onboarding/offboarding employee processes. You must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills. Additionally, you should be able to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
What You Will Do
  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, including data entry, processing payroll, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness using the ADP Workforce Now platform for multi-state weekly and bi-weekly payroll.
  • Process all payroll reports and 401k contribution upload to the 401k vendor portal.
  • Maintain and update employee information in the HRIS system.
  • Prepare and distribute paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
  • Respond to employee inquiries about payroll-related matters.
  • Assist with annual 401k audit, EEO Data filing and 5500 benefit filing process.
  • Support benefits administration, including monitoring employee eligibility, assist with the annual open enrollment process and with benefits-related inquiries.
  • Reconcile and submit payments for monthly benefit invoices.
  • Administer employee COBRA eligibility programs and notifications.
  • Assist with the recruitment process by managing job postings, coordinating interviews, tracking candidate status, and conducting pre-hire background checks.
  • Facilitate onboarding activities, administer new hire paperwork, educate employees on compliance and benefits, and provide ongoing support for employee inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verifications.
  • Assist with employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, TDI, TCI.
  • Maintain employee personnel files to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support termination and offboarding processes.
  • Assist in planning and executing company events, such as benefits open enrollment, meetings, employee recognition, and holiday celebrations.
  • Implement and support HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations.
  • Maintain compliance of both electronic and paper personnel files, organizing personal and confidential information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Provide support in responding to day-to-day employee relations issues and assist in conflict resolution, including participating in formal investigations when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in HR roles, with proficiency in full cycle payroll processing, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance with employment laws.
  • Human Resources Certification (SHRM – SCP/CP) and/or Certified Payroll Certification credentials a plus.
  • Proficient using ADP Workforce Now required.
  • Experience using Employee Benefit Navigator a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, organized with a team oriented attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Basic understanding of employment laws and practices.
  • Ability to manage time-sensitive deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in English language, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in computer usage and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience working in a Union environment a plus.
