PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
· Keeps the building and property in clean and orderly condition.
· Performs routine maintenance activities and minor repairs (e.g. replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, minor leaks, etc.)
· Performs heavy cleaning duties.
· Gathers and empties trash.
· Prepare spaces for the next day by organizing/tidying furniture.
· Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
· Scrubs sanitizes, and supplies restrooms.
· Stocks supplies for kitchen, breakroom, and employee snack bar.
· Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets.
· Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
· Mix cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
· Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
· Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture.
· Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs.
· Maintain outer premises by cleaning entrances and picking up trash in parking lot areas.
· Reporting any potentially hazardous situations inside and outside of our building area. Report major damages and oversee repairs.
· Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
· Utilize insecticides to prevent infestation by dangerous pests.
· Notify managers regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
· Order, assemble, and maintain warehouse/office furniture as needed/requested.
· Opening facilities before operating hours by opening front doors, turning on any needed lights, turning on air-conditioning or heating as needed, etc.
· Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows, and setting up the alarm (as needed).
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures.
· Proven experience as custodian, janitor, or in a similar role.
· Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours.
· Ability to perform repetitive motions for long periods.
· Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions.
· Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals.
· Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules.
· Communication Skills.
· Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work at heights.
· Knowledge of the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
· Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
· Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices.
· Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
· Excellent physical condition and strength.
· Ability to read, write, understand, and relay, written and verbal instructions.
· Consistent, regular, and punctual attendance for all scheduled shifts.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Basic math skills.
· Courses in shop/mechanics may be preferred for repair work.
