Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our team and to help drive patient success in our community. What you will do:

• Routine follow-up visits in the office.
• Urgent follow-up visits in the office.
• Urgent and provider requested consults and new patient visits.
• G-tube changes.
• Hemorrhoid banding (after training).
• Large volume paracentesis (as permitted).
• Communicate patient care activities to the physician (visit notes/test results).
• Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
• Order appropriate medication, laboratory, and diagnostic procedures.
• Administer medications and injections.
• Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
• Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
• Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. 
• Perform a physical exam and records findings.

What you bring:

• Graduate of an accredited program and board certified with prescriptive authority.
• Strong interpersonal skills are a must, knowledge of billing services is required, understands the various responsibilities physician/PA/Patient relationship.
• Successful completion of a Physician’s Assistant program with certification by a national Physician Assistant certification board.
• Three (3) years professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
