Accounting Manager

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on accounting manager to supervise day-to-day activities for the organization. Accounting Manager responsibilities include supporting the accounting group and preparing financial statements as well as generating various reports for distribution to department heads and managers.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly/quarterly financial statements
• Perform month-end closing process including preparation of journal entries and monitoring closing activities of other groups.
• Review and prepare account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly cost center reports for Department Heads
• Posting of weekly payroll entries
• Create and distribute labor reports.
• Review and monitor G/L coding by the accounting group and purchasing.
• Track and maintain fixed asset schedules, as well as CapEx projects.
• Calculate and monitor monthly customer rebate programs.
• Prepare work papers for external auditors and respond to requests from auditors.
• Maintain various setup parameters within the ERP system.
• Evaluate and prepare assessment fees and reports to various agencies.
• Calculation and monitoring of bank covenant compliance
• Prepare and file Use Tax returns.
• Support preparation of property tax returns
• Complete quarterly analysis of fuel costs
• Primary contact for annual workers comp audit
• Maintain and analyze monthly budget to actual financials.
• Various ad-hoc projects and reporting

Experience & Education

• Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting.
• 5-plus years’ experience as Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Accounting Supervisor. 
• Advanced computer skills with Navision, MS Office, Excel, Pivot tables, MS Dynamics, payroll software, and other data databases as needed. 

Physical Requirements:

• Employee must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. onto waist-high shelves.
• Employee must have the ability to carry/lift to 10-55 lbs.
• Frequent bending at the waist/knees
• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands/fingers.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance is required, CPA preferred
• 5 to 10 years in Accounting/Finance with a record of increasing responsibility
• Ability to work to tight deadlines with a heightened sense of urgency
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on attention to detail balanced with a big-picture focus
• Ability to present information and data in an understandable and logical manner
• Ability to quickly understand concepts, think through possible solutions and implications, and rely on experience and judgment to work independently to prioritize and accomplish daily tasks
• High degree of integrity while working with confidential information
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to work independently as well as in group/team settings
• Advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, lookup)
• Proactive, positive attitude, and a strong sense of self-motivation, accountability, and responsibility
