roost is Hiring a Financial Controller Near Vancouver, WA

We need a hands-on Controller ready to dive into the fast-paced dynamics of a growing company, working closely with Operations and Product teams. This job is NOT for you if you seek a traditional work-life balance or a predictable, daily routine. However, if you thrive on managing high-volume transactional details, solving complex problems, and designing scalable processes as part of a collaborative team dedicated to the success of building a company, this role could be highly rewarding.

Responsibilities:

Roost Corporate:

  • Oversee the prompt preparation and review of Roost's financial statements and books, maintaining compliance with US GAAP.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies, and advise on financial transactions and reporting.
  • Manage banking and vendor relationships, including pricing negotiations and adherence to service agreements.
  • Formulate corporate risk management policies and oversee insurance, licensing, and other administrative functions.

Roost Client Accounting:

  • Oversee and manage the operational aspects of the Client Accounting through the Roost system, including the flow of funds, client reconciliations, refund accuracy, and end-of-month financial true-ups.
  • Oversee the setup and management of FBO (For Benefit Of) accounts and their transactions, ensuring compliance and proper handling.
  • Support and enhance operations to accommodate the company's growth and scalability, handling large volumes of transactions smoothly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to refine financial procedures, enhance internal reporting systems, and ensure seamless financial operations.
  • Assist with Client trouble-shooting and/or assist with answering accounting-related questions as needed.

Other:

  • Supervise and mentor part-time accounting staff, fostering a team-oriented environment that encourages growth and efficiency.
  • Utilize tools such as Slack for daily communications with the team, ensuring transparency and collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of related accounting experience at a high-growth startup; Multi family, SaaS and/or FinTech experience a strong plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience evolving processes, controls and systems to support a growth stage company, particularly in environments handling high transaction volumes.
  • Excellent ability to navigate multiple financial management systems, adapt to new technologies and and proficiency with modern communication tools such as Slack.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience supervising staff and managing complex financial operations.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with Executive management and cross-functional teams; ability to explain complex or technical financial subjects to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong personal integrity and the highest ethical standards.
