Job Description

The IT System Administrator I approaches his/her tasks in a team-based fashion that supports all Salud staff, volunteers, contractors, and other individuals. 

The IT System Administrator I provides direct support to Salud's staff according to processes and procedures. This position is part of the Salud IT Infrastructure Team and helps to administer IT hardware and software.

  • Starting Hourly Wage Range - $38.62 to $44.42 per hour
  • Monday to Friday – 8 am to 5 pm (with after-hours/overtime work as needed)

Specific Duties

  • Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, monitoring, security, and day-to-day operations of Salud’s Information Technology systems and infrastructure
  • Identifies and resolves hardware and software problems for Salud employees.
  • Opens support tickets with vendors as required
  • Completes project work as assigned
  • Ability to maintain a positive and supportive attitude when understanding and dealing with IT-related staff concerns
  • Works in conjunction with caregivers and all other Salud staff to ensure that patients obtain the highest standard of integrated healthcare
  • Acts as a patient advocate for our vulnerable populations by ensuring that patients are fully informed and comfortable with their visit to Salud
  • Responsible for the timely update, resolution, and closure of all open HelpDesk tickets assigned to this person
  • Maintains a high standard of user service and satisfaction
  • Displays excellent technical troubleshooting, judgment, and prioritizing while considering the needs of Salud as an organization
  • Effectively and professionally communicates, verbally and in writing, with other Salud personnel as necessary to perform job functions
  • Assists in the development and documentation of department standards as directed
  • Is the escalation point for Tier I and Tier II IT staff
  • Provides other support to the department as requested
  • Participates in on-call rotation and after-hours work as assigned
  • Helps to maintain a HelpDesk tech support knowledge base
  • Documents procedures used to implement supported hardware and software sufficient to allow other support team members to be able to support these systems
  • May interact with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problems 
  • Simulates, recreates, or remotely accesses users' systems to identify user problems to resolve operating difficulties
  • Possess the ability to complete multiple simultaneous tasks/projects promptly.
  • Follows procedures for the electronic health records system
  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED, required
  • Minimum Associate degree majoring in an Information Technology related study required
  • Experience and/or training sufficient to allow successful completion of essential duties and responsibilities may be considered in lieu of an applicable degree

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years relevant experience is required
  • Health Care and HIPAA-related experience is preferred, but not required

Licensure:

  • A valid Driver’s License required 
  • Reliable transportation to be used for travel is required. 
  • Ability to travel to/from organization and community sites promptly
  •  IT Certifications are not required, but are preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Requires working knowledge of System Administration functions including, but not limited to client endpoints, physical & virtual servers running Microsoft OS, VOIP technology, backup technology, SAN technology, Active Directory, Disaster Recovery, DNS, & DHCP
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of industry-standard Information Technology concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Creativity and latitude are required as well as a strong degree of self-motivation and the ability to be self-directed to effectively perform job functions
  • The ability to prioritize tasks, pay attention to detail, and be versatile in a fast-changing environment is critical
  • Must work well with other Salud team members
  • Sensitivity to low-income and ethnic minority communities is a must
  • Performing routine and scheduled audits of all systems
  • Assisting in implementing the overall IT strategy
