Position Title District Extension Agent Job Summary Responsible for employment-related operations, including recruitment, screening of applicants, the employment process, payroll and related policy implementation, evaluation, and staff development.

Essential Job Duties

• Assist extension professionals with the management of food system / community projects
• Assist limited resource communities in the counties as needed
• Provide oversight on committees of Annual Conferences
• Play a primary role in communication between TUCE State Advisory Board and County Staff
• Provide general TUCE program oversight for compliance with NIFA guidelines
• Responsible for Statewide Personnel Training and Development, Professional Improvement Planning, and competency-based employment standards.
• Responsible for employment-related operations, including recruitment, screening of applicants, the employment process, payroll and related policy implementation, evaluation, and staff development.
• Provides oversight of Employee Performance Evaluation Systems, including training of Department Heads, Regional Staff, and County Directors in conducting effective performance appraisals.
• Develops reports based upon analyses of performance review scores.
• Other duties as assigned by the 1890 Extension Administrator.

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)

• Masters degree in agriculture, environmental science, food development, education, or related area
• 20 years of experience in cooperative extension

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
• Ability to serve on task forces and / or committees.
• Program planning and implementation skills.
• Ability to identify and secure alternative funding / revenue sources.
• Skill in developing policy and procedures.
