Tuskegee University is Hiring an Animal caretaker Near Tuskegee, AL

Position Title Small Animal Caretaker Job Summary The Small Animal Caretaker I position is currently vacant. The caretaker is primarily responsible for the cleaning and sterilization ofhospital areas with animals, and the feeding and care of animals in the Small Animal Hospital under the supervision ofa veterinarian or veterinary technician.

The Small Animal Caretaker I has the opportunity with training and education to advance to a Veterinary Assistant I position Essential Job Duties

  • Cleaning and maintaining the ward areas and outdoor dog runs.
  • Cleaning and sterilizing kennels, cages, treatment room, exam rooms and other spaces as needed.
  • Cleaning and sterilizing equipment, feeding utensils, etc.
  • Feeding, and exercising animals as needed.
  • Restocking supplies and equipment in the wards and other areas in the hospital as assigned Feeding and watering animals as well as monitoring feed and water intake.
  • Assist students, technicians, and clinicians with restraint during treatments and procedures where needed in the hospital.

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience with animal handling.

Physical Demands Skills and Attributes

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team of veterinarians, staff, and students.
  • Possess time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a diverse medical team.
  • Possess basic computer skills and ability to communicate via email.
