Robert Half is Hiring a Payroll Specialist Near Taunton, MA
Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly payrolls ensuring compliance with the company’s time off and pay practices, as well as federal and state wage and hour standards and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with managers and employees to resolve discrepancies in time and attendance and time off accruals.
- Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure accurate information for new hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, and new deductions.
- Accurately enter and maintain employee information in the HRIS/Payroll system.
- Balance the payroll and each pay element in a preliminary payroll report.
- Review the preliminary payroll report with the manager for approval before submitting to production.
- Investigate and resolve issues relating to payroll production, deductions, etc.
- Maintain payroll records according to state and federal recordkeeping requirements.
- Stay updated on wage and tax laws affecting payroll and the system updates that accommodate these.
- Use standard payroll reporting regularly and create custom reports or contact ADP for assistance to address ad hoc reporting requests.
- Serve as the daily contact for ADP on payroll issues, the set-up of new codes, etc.
- Respond to inquiries from all levels of employees on payroll matters.
- Apply knowledge of the company’s union contracts, track weekly/monthly hours worked and calculate the pension and the health and welfare benefits the company pays out monthly to the union. Inform the manager of discrepancies.
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now is mandatory
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
- Experience in 401k - RRSP Administration
- Familiarity with Accounting Functions
- Knowledge of Benefit Functions is a must
- Proficiency in Check Processing
- Experience with Payroll - Union
- Knowledge of Pension Administration is required
