Robert Half is Hiring a Payroll Specialist Near Taunton, MA

DescriptionWe are offering an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator in Taunton, Massachusetts. The primary focus of this role will be to prepare weekly payrolls and ensure compliance with the company’s time off and pay practices, as well as federal and state wage and hour standards and regulations. The Payroll Administrator will also be required to communicate with managers and employees to resolve discrepancies and maintain payroll records.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare weekly payrolls ensuring compliance with the company’s time off and pay practices, as well as federal and state wage and hour standards and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with managers and employees to resolve discrepancies in time and attendance and time off accruals.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure accurate information for new hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, and new deductions.
  • Accurately enter and maintain employee information in the HRIS/Payroll system.
  • Balance the payroll and each pay element in a preliminary payroll report.
  • Review the preliminary payroll report with the manager for approval before submitting to production.
  • Investigate and resolve issues relating to payroll production, deductions, etc.
  • Maintain payroll records according to state and federal recordkeeping requirements.
  • Stay updated on wage and tax laws affecting payroll and the system updates that accommodate these.
  • Use standard payroll reporting regularly and create custom reports or contact ADP for assistance to address ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Serve as the daily contact for ADP on payroll issues, the set-up of new codes, etc.
  • Respond to inquiries from all levels of employees on payroll matters.
  • Apply knowledge of the company’s union contracts, track weekly/monthly hours worked and calculate the pension and the health and welfare benefits the company pays out monthly to the union. Inform the manager of discrepancies.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now is mandatory
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Experience in 401k - RRSP Administration
  • Familiarity with Accounting Functions
  • Knowledge of Benefit Functions is a must
  • Proficiency in Check Processing
  • Experience with Payroll - Union
  • Knowledge of Pension Administration is required
