The candidate will be assigned to the OSU College of Medicine - Cherokee Nation (OSUCOM-CN) Tahlequah, OK Campus.
The Simulation Specialist serves as a technical expert who is able to set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot medical simulation equipment and software associated. The Simulation Specialist also instructs and assists simulation educators/faculty and learners in the use of medical equipment and task trainers used in simulation. In addition, assists in operation activities such as staffing and maintenance scheduling, and inventory/purchasing functions. Assist in the development, setup, delivery, and takedown of medical simulation education sessions.
Responsibilities:
- The specialist will set up simulations for learners, as well as plan, program, test, and implement the training sessions using AV resources, high and low fidelity mannequins, task trainers, and simulation medical equipment and resources
- Specialist will also create a realistic environment in which to conduct the simulation, including the utilization of all necessary peripheral equipment and fluids
- Collaborate with educators and faculty to develop appropriate curriculum and maintain a safe learning environment for the learners
- May be involved with the educational aspects of scenarios, including debriefing/feedback
- Provides and implements solutions to enhance the delivery of simulation-based medical education through technological developments
- Maintain stock levels to meet maintenance needs, and review resources to recommend the purchase and use of equipment, supplies, and materials required for simulation based scenarios
- Work with manager with vendors to keep equipment and manikins up to date and in appropriate working condition
- Troubleshoots technical issues with manikins and equipment and can mobilize resources to ensure functionality of equipment for course requirements
- Participate in professional and educational activities, meetings, and training opportunities to maintain professional competencies and current knowledge base

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, stand, grasp, crawl, kneel, stoop and balance, push and pull up to 85 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certificate of training in medical, nursing, or allied health or equivalent experience
- At least two (2) years of experience as a technician/technologist in a medical simulation center, hospital, or related medical environment
Skills, Proficiencies and Knowledge:
- Demonstrate ability to install, operate, maintain and troubleshoot hospital and technical equipment and software used in a clinical education environment
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Ability to acquire new skills and learn new procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Preferred:
- Licensed nurse, paramedic, or emergency medicine technician
- ACLS instructor preferred, or ability to become an ACLS instructor
