Cherokee Nation is Hiring a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (Temporary/Part-Time) Near Tahlequah, OK

Job Summary:

Responsible for the diagnostic cardiac or vascular ultrasound that results in providing the cardiologist with measurements and accurate images of cardiac structures for the provider to provide an accurate diagnosis. Operates ultrasound equipment that collects reflected echoes and Doppler signals from images and spectral tracings of the heart.

Job Duties:

Through a variety of methods, the Registered Cardiac Ultrasonographer collects data and images of cardiac structures using cardiac sonography imaging, color flow and spectral Doppler, transthoracic 2-D, M-mode, cardiac exercise stress echo and pharmacological stress echo, vascular upper extremity and lower extremity venous duplex, vascular carotid duplex, and non-imaging cardiac Pedoff transducer. Prepares patients for procedures and obtains clinical history from the patient including cardiac-related physical findings and pertinent laboratory data to adapt the imaging techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms to alleviate the probability of erroneous clinical interpretation of the echocardiogram. Uses two-dimensional images and Doppler tracings to assess the cardiac structures and hemodynamics. Detects and assesses the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the veins of the body (exclusive of the heart) by performing vascular imaging. Provides immediate feedback with preliminary reports of critical results to the nurses and providers in the health system is critical for life-saving treatment intervention. Assists the provider with studies and aids them in proceeding with complex procedures to decrease potential associated procedural risks. Assures that equipment is cleaned and functioning properly, notifies appropriate service personnel promptly for repairs. Participates in continuing education activities to maintain clinical competency. Assists front office staff with scheduling routine procedures as well as procedures requiring special attention. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times and protect all personal health information as it relates to patient data.

No supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Associates degree from a 2-year college or technical school; or two (2) years (60 credit hours) coursework from a 4-year college or university; or three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or a graduate from an accredited program.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

No additional experience required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

An individual should know Database software, Internet software, Manufacturing software, Order processing software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintain throughout employment. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or registry eligible from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and must obtain registration within twelve (12) months of hire; or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) preferred but not required. Must possess a valid drivers license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Ability to effectively communicate with patients, providers, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently. Ability to work independently. Ability to utilize critical thinking skills. Ability to serve in an on-call rotation after regular business hours if needed.

Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally be required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to correct/adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The employee may frequently be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), and the risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
