Tampa Theatre is an historic movie palace of national significance located in the heart of downtown Tampa. Built in 1926 and designed by famed theatre architect John Eberson, Tampa Theatre is considered the most intact atmospheric movie palace in the world. Today, the Theatre presents films, concerts, community celebrations, and special events year-round in addition to its efforts to passionately protect and preserve this unique community gathering place.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Vice President & Director of Development, the Development Officer is dedicated to advancing relationships with donors who have potential to make major gifts ($25,000 or more) to Tampa Theatre. The Development Officer is responsible for the planning and implementation of the Theatre’s major and planned giving program, with a primary focus on the $25M Second Century Capital Campaign and growing the Theatre’s endowment.

This position is a hybrid position and requires significant time meeting with donors and prospects outside of the office environment. Experienced and seasoned fundraisers are encouraged to apply.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and managing a portfolio of qualified major gift prospects of up to 100 prospects.
  • Advancing the major gift donor relationship through engagement, solicitation and stewardship activity designed to deepen donor’s understanding and build donor trust and confidence that leads to gift commitment.
  • Creating personalized donor relationship strategy for assigned major gift prospects.
  • Creating compelling proposals, stewardship reports, and acknowledgements.
  • Achieving assigned performance metrics to ensure major gift goals are achieved. These metrics include: number of meaningful contacts; number and amount of solicitations; dollar amount raised; discovery calls conducted.
  • Supporting the VP and organization leadership with their major gift assignments. This includes development of donor relationship strategy, preparation for calls including cultivation and solicitation.
  • Lead regular prospect review meetings with the team.
  • Analyzing program results and developing reports and materials for leadership.
  • Tracking annual goals and budget projections.
  • Managing the Marquee Society of planned giving donors.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring data is processed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Financial and donor comparisons and reporting to management.
  • Supporting all development department events.
  • Always demonstrate professional conduct.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an arts/humanities discipline, philanthropy, non-profit management, or related field.
  • CFRE and/or advanced degree preferred.
  • 3 or more years experience in direct solicitation of individual gifts.
  • Ability to work in remote locations, including home and rotating office locations.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, based on Theatre events and donor needs.
  • The successful candidate will be goal-oriented, possess a proven track record of fundraising for non-profit organizations, demonstrate superior communication and interpersonal skills, be a self-starter, be extremely organized, and prove adept at follow through to build and deepen relationships.

COMPENSATION

  • Starting annual salary of $80,000.
