Job Summary :
The New Construction project estimator is responsible for putting together bid proposals and take-offs for new construction.
General Duties and Responsibilities :
Review project plans and specifications to understand the scope of work.
Taper takes off as needed and / or sending to suppliers for taper take-offs and details.
Ability to determine accurate profit margins based on project requirements, pending manager review.
Evaluating reasons for receiving or not receiving a job to determine why we did or did not get the job.
Coordinating and communicating with GC to verify that the information is accurate.
Gathering data on materials, labor, and equipment costs.
Estimating the cost of each item or activity required for the project.
Researching market prices and obtaining quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
Determining the quantity and cost of materials needed for the project.
Assessing the time and manpower required to complete each task.
Analyzing project risks and potential cost overruns.
Writing bids and presenting them to the sales representative.
Reviewing and revising estimates as necessary based on project changes or amendments.
Communicating with suppliers, subcontractors, and other parties to obtain cost information.
Keeping up to date with industry trends and pricing fluctuations.
Maintaining a database of cost estimates for future reference.
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Job Requirements :
Required high school degree or GED equivalent.
Previous estimating experience, preferably 2-5 years.
Construction background and industry knowledge
Flat Roof experience
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
2-3 year's experience with take-off software and / or CAD
Understanding how to evaluate blueprints and spec sheets.
Strong time-management and multitasking abilities.
Computer skills, excel, google chrome, Zoom / Google Meets, and Gmail
