Job Title: Embroidery Machine Operator
Department: Promotional Department
Status: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Reports To: Printing & Promotional Manager
Location: Sioux Falls, SD
This role requires the ability to organize, multi-task and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment, with a keen eye for detail and quality assurance. This is hands-on, operating a computerized embroidery machine to embroider Corporate logos, names, initial, and/or decorative designs on garments, material, uniforms, clothing, and to stick, brand, braid or place emblems on material or garments by performing the following duties:
Essential Functions:
- Operation of computerized embroidery machine
- Reads sales orders to determine type and location of embroidery
- Selects size and color thread and draw it through machine guides and bobbins
- Regulate machine settings/ sew out proof's for approval
- Trim product after sewing is complete to remove excess threads and backing
- Guide fabric under needle or use feed bed to guide material
- Observes sewing operation to detect defects in stitching that may indicate machine malfunction
- Uses embroidery hoops / apparatus to hold fabric taut
- Repairs defective embroidery or fills in areas as needed
- Operates automatic embroidery machines with multiple or single sewing heads controlled by zip drive
- Perform regular machine maintenance, including cleaning, oiling, and troubleshooting minor issues to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain a clean and organized workplace
- Operate heat press / heat seal equipment as needed
Qualification Requirements:
- High School diploma/GED
- Minimum 1-3 months related production experience and/or training, or equivalent combination
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, designs, and job specifications accurately
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions safely
- Some Computer experience, software
- Physical dexterity, eye/hand coordination, grasp, push/pull, occasional lifting up to 50lbs
- Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality work
- Knowledge/experience of fabric, tensions, sewing are helpful
- Regularly required to stand for extended periods, some read/sit
- Work near mechanical machines with some noise
