Valley Machining Company is Hiring a Quality Assurance Technician Near Sioux Falls, SD

LOCATION: ROCK VALLEY, IA

Brief Description of Duties:

This position will perform the quality assurance functions across all levels of Valley Machining Company. The Quality Assurance Technician will inspect and ensure all products are created to the highest quality and standards of the company and industry.

Duties and Knowledge:

  • Perform inspection and calibration tasks.
  • Maintenance of Metrology equipment.
  • Good understanding of VMC Quality Management System (QMS).
  • In depth knowledge of VMC processes including quality risks
  • Assists with creating a satisfactory working environment with other departments to perform quality inspections
  • Ensure compliance with a detailed quality inspection process.
  • Training or certification in calibration of equipment, or ability and willingness to pursue
  • Knowledge of materials used in the fabrication process
  • Trains employees regarding new processes and procedures
  • Have experience and working understanding of the processes, prints, equipment, and technology in the area
  • Maintain applicable Quality Assurance files and records; both paper and electronic
  • Performs a variety of projects related to all aspects of the manufacturing process
  • Maintains knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology, equipment, and applications; applies this knowledge to recommend and implement new technology and processes to improve production efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 3 years prior experience in metal fabrication in a manufacturing setting 
  • Knowledgeable of Lean Manufacturing Practices preferred
  • Knowledgeable of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing preferred

 Skills:

  • Must have organizational and administrative abilities.
  • Possesses strong oral, writing and listening skills
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledgeable of Safety Practices and OSHA Requirements
  • Interprets, analyzes, and applies a variety of manufacturing principles and prints
  • Possesses a level of detail with strong accuracy, math, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others
  • Effectively meets deadlines
  • Possesses strong computer skills and understands basic programs and technology; ability to learn new software as required.
  • Possesses strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation

Occupational Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment while following all safety protocol
  • Ability to stand for a long period of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
