This position will report to the VP of Finance and C-Suite executives to help us create and maintain a productive work environment. The ideal candidate is an extremely well organized, detail-oriented individual, who can manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment. This role will be office based, meaning you will be required to work in our physical Santa Monica office during business hours, five days per week, Monday through Friday.
Successful candidates must be able to wear several hats, work closely with, and manage, other Finance/Accounting team members, communicate effectively (verbally and through email), have a thick skin, and love dogs (at our dog friendly office). Candidates who thrive in an entrepreneurial environment are preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage accounting associates.
· Mentor accounting staff and provide guidance as necessary.
· Manage month-end close process.
· Record weekly and monthly revenues from e-commerce sites like Amazon, Shopify, etc.
· Track and record inventory and inventory in transit movements.
· Compute and record monthly Cost of Goods Sold.
· Responsible for monthly bank account reconciliations.
· Responsible for monthly credit card account reconciliations.
· Perform general ledger balance sheet reconciliations.
· Verify accuracy of data with VP of Finance and C-Suite executives.
· Obtain written authorization for the creation of GL codes and journal entries in QB.
· Keep physical and digital records organized, and easy to navigate, according to company processes and policies.
· Coordinate reporting of sales taxes, VAT and GST.
· Coordinate insurance policies (including prepaids and amortization).
· Support year-end close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and accruals.
· Ensure internal controls, policies, and procedures are implemented and operating effectively.
· Respond timely to information requests and assist with audits (as necessary).
· Analyze and summarize account information and trends.
· Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
· Apply a broad knowledge of advanced accounting methods and procedures.
· Perform ad hoc department projects and other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
· 3 years of senior level accounting experience (preferred).
· 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
· 1-3 years of experience in an e-commerce or startup environment (helpful, but not required).
· Strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles and procedures (CPA preferred, but not required).
· Excellent organizational and analytical skills and ability to multi-task.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Strong Excel, Word, Outlook, and QuickBooks skills.
· A self-starter: willingness to learn and ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment.
