MGR Accounting Recruiters, a Teamshares Network company, is searching for a Controller for a client in San Antonio.
As the Controller, you will lead and oversee general accounting operations.
Your responsibilities would include month-end close duties, reconciling account balances, maintaining general ledger, record payroll transactions, cash management, review commission calculations and review AP payments. A successful Controller combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has also experience collaborating and/or managing an AR Specialist.
Controller duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks and implementation of efficient and effective processes.
Day to Day:
Respond and support internal and external inquiries
Support President and CFO by providing financial data as requested
Record semi-monthly payroll journal entries
Review commission close-out calculations
Prepare monthly WIP report
Lead month-end and year-end close process
Maintain reporting by location
Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
Prepare and provide monthly bank reporting
Analyze and present financial information
Prepare and provide required data for for tax returns
Lead external review by external CPA firm.
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
Requirements and Skills:
Proven experience as senior accountant or controller (8 to 10 years)
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Familiarity with financial accounting statements
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP's and pivot tables
Accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred
