PURPOSE

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) will be recognized by the RRD staff and our partners as the most senior product development expert in the company. As such, the CDO will have stellar credentials and will utilize his/her scientific and development expertise to direct and oversee all product development programs being managed by RRD. The CDO will also play a key role in supporting the activities of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and other members of Senior Management, mentoring other RRD development staff, providing leadership to the project teams, developing new partnerships, maintaining relationships with existing partners, and supporting business development.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the CEO and other members of the senior management team to create a business strategy that will maximize the ability of RRD to partner with emerging and established companies in the biopharmaceutical industry and life sciences investor groups.
• Provide exceptional scientific and product development expertise, direction, and leadership to our partner companies and product development teams to maximize the potential for program success.
• Support business development efforts
• Serve as principal liaison to Partner’s senior management for selected product development programs, including participation as a member of the Development Advisory Committee (DAC)
• May serve as Program Team Leader for development programs
• Provide scientific and technical training of RRD personnel
• Interact with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and/or other regulatory authorities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• PhD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced medical/scientific degree
• 15 or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech and/or Contract Research Organization industries with extensive experience overseeing clinical-stage product development programs and teams
• Significant track record of success driving Phase 1-3 development programs and achieving marketing approvals
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills (oral and written)
• Broad familiarity with FDA/EMA requirements for product development/approval
