Position Summary:

This position performs work with designated individuals to ensure the coordination of the terms and conditions of adult probation as well as counseling, rehabilitation, and the provision of other coordinated services. Must be P.O.S.T. certified (Category-1) or be eligible to obtain P.O.S.T. certification within one (1) year from date of hire.

Duties:

• Supervises adults to ensure observation of mandatory terms and conditions of probation by using weekly meetings, random drug and alcohol testing, home visits and other monitoring techniques;

• Prepares pre-sentencing reports for the Tribal Court with recommendations for sentencing and presents testimony as may be required;

• Coordinates services through Federal, State and Tribal resources and makes referrals as deemed appropriate;

• Works collaboratively with Education, Law Enforcement, and Social Services to provide maximum coordination of programs and information to probationers;

• Investigates reports of probation violations and reports all probation violations to the Tribal Prosecutor

• Participates in meetings, in-service training and other activities as required or deemed necessary by the Supervisor; and

• Coordinates data, maintains effective and timely reporting, produces correspondence and other written reports as required;

• Meets with the Healing and Wellness Court team weekly as a team member to discuss participants assigned to HTWC;

• Appears in Court and up-to-date files of probationers and individuals who are being monitored by the APO;

• Enter information into Full Court and other court utilized databases, daily or as necessary;

• Assists Bailiff when needed by monitoring or supervising courtroom;

• Other job-related duties as assigned by the Tribal Court Administrator.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at time of hire;

• Must have a degree from an accredited institution in either criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or related field; or

• Must have a minimum of two (2) years of prior professional experience in a law enforcement, counseling, or other community-based organization providing services to probationers, parolees, or juvenile offenders;

• Must be P.O.S.T. certified (Category-1) or enroll in and obtain P.O.S.T. certification within twelve (12) months from date of hire;

• Knowledge of interviewing, counseling, and investigating and evidenced by prior work history;

• A valid Nevada Driver License at the time of hire and be eligible to participate in the RSIC Vehicle Insurance Program during course of employment;

• Ability to demonstrate moderate to advanced computer skills to produce required reports, memos, correspondence, and statistical information; and

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

PLEASE NOTE: Hiring preference will be given to qualified tribal members of Reno-Sparks Indian Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Must pass and comply with the HR Policy 164.905- PL101. 630. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony requires a designated candidate to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and confirmation of professional references and certifications.

Pay: $25.81 - $27.50 per hour
