Join our team of passionate and hard-working individuals! The Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a County Fiscal Officer 1 who possesses a strong working knowledge of human resource (HR) principles and practices, as well as payroll functions.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a County Fiscal Officer 1, you will be responsible for preparing and analyzing HR compensation data and implementing processes for preparing, reviewing, and monitoring HR compensation reports for all HR needs within the DHS HR Bureau.
You will utilize knowledge of principles and practices of public fiscal administration to analyze compensation equity and salary trends based upon state and government legislation (Fair Labor and Standards Act).
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with the HR Personnel Manager regarding union contract salaries, anniversary increases, and merit increases and track such information by utilizing HR and fiscal computer applications, spreadsheets, diagrams, ledgers, and journals.
You will have direct oversight over the HR Payroll Unit for all payroll related functions, including providing guidance, assistance, and training to Payroll Clerks in the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, which has a workforce of over 900 employees.
Additional specific duties include processing newly hired and terminated employees, supervising Fiscal Technicians, serving as a contact person for DHS payroll information, and assisting with and preparing correspondence, reports, and other materials as necessary for staff payroll and salary information.
