Kensington Soccer Club (KSC) Volunteer Coordinator

Position Summary:
Since its inception in 2010, KSC has primarily been a volunteer-led organization. Our growth in the past few years has allowed us to bring on board more full-time and part-time permanent staff; however, we remain committed to involving community members as volunteers to make our programs stronger, better serve the community and strengthen community bonds.
The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts. They will be the point person at the club for any volunteer questions or concerns, and help the organization develop a more robust volunteer engagement plan and program that leads to increased volunteer turnout and better volunteer retention over time.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Engage with prospective volunteers over email, phone, and in-person meetings to place
them in appropriate positions with the club.
● Maintain our volunteer listings on our website, VolunteerMatch, Global Citizen 365,
Catchafire, and other volunteer recruitment portals that may arise.
● Work with our Communications Director to create promotional materials to recruit
volunteers and highlight the work of our volunteers.
● Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment plan that includes the use of social media,
online recruitment portals, and in-person networking and events.
● Work with KSC staff to identify new volunteer needs, develop volunteer position
descriptions, and devise a plan for recruitment, selection, and onboarding of these new
roles.
● Assist with the development and implementation of a solidified process for volunteer
orientation, training, and processing.
● Develop and implement a method for periodic evaluation and feedback between
volunteers and volunteer leaders.
● Oversee the development and implementation of our Volunteer Working Groups
● Develop and implement a volunteer recognition plan to be used throughout the year that
includes personal thanking, public recognition, and celebratory events.
● Work with the administrative team to engage with large institutional partners (colleges
and universities, large nonprofits, and large soccer organizations) that would bring in larger
numbers of volunteers, and get those volunteers placed with the Kensington Soccer
Club.
● Oversee volunteer recruitment for unique efforts, such as one-time special events and
team-specific needs, by utilizing family members as volunteers.
Required Qualifications:
○ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
○ Able to work effectively with diverse groups of people
○ Able to work in-person and virtually and comfortable working in the Kensington
and surrounding communities (e.g. attending meetings, and events such as tabling at
festivals)
○ Consistent access to wi-fi, mobile phone, and email
○ Philadelphia or Philadelphia area resident
Preferred Qualifications:
○ Proficiency in
○ Driver’s license
○ Familiarity with coaching
○ At least one year of relevant experience working with volunteers
○ At least one year of experience working with a nonprofit organization
Compensation details:
This is a part-time position. Compensation for this position is $250 weekly
