School Custodian

A full-time, competitively paid position at a first-rate college preparatory school for boys.

Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia seeks a Custodian to support the successful operations of the middle and high school campuses in alignment with the school’s mission: preparing boys for success in college and beyond. The custodian will maintain the safety and cleanliness of all assigned facilities and perform light maintenance and other similar duties as needed and assigned. The custodian will work closely with the Maintenance Technician and custodial team, and report to the Manager of Facilities.

The custodian will perform the following duties:

• Cleans and maintains assigned areas including, but not limited to, emptying trash, dusting, sweeping, mop/wet mopping, vacuuming, and washing surfaces on a daily basis.
• Maintain the cleanliness of assigned toilet room areas as well as replenishment of supplies including, but not limited to, soap, toilet paper, and paper towel dispensers.
• Utilize power equipment, including, but not limited to, scrubbers and waxing equipment for deeper cleaning as needed and assigned.
• Assist with the set up and tear down of chairs, tables, and other similar items as assigned.
• Secure facilities as assigned.
• Light painting as assigned.
• Maintain cleanliness of the assigned grounds.
• Support a school environment that is welcoming, academic, joyful, and safe.

• Ability to cultivate strong relationships with all members of the school community, including students, parents, faculty and staff members, administrators, and external partners.
• Ability to work independently and maintain the cleanliness and security of facilities.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and crawl for a period of eight hours per day.
• Minimum of two years of prior work experience as a custodian.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
