The Raymore-Peculiar School District is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Finance Specialist.

The job of Finance Specialist performs various accounts payable and other financial activities that require accurately processing, recording, and/or updating fiscal information in accordance with established financial practices and state regulations. Candidates should be highly organized and be able to apply problem solving skills in a variety of situations. Candidates need to be effective communicators and demonstrate high levels of customer service. Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains a wide variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records (e.g., web page, online calendar, purchasing card records, departmental accounts, student records, receipt and disbursement records, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit support for compliance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Prepares a wide variety of reports and written materials (e.g., correspondence, financial summaries, funding applications and requests, compliance reports, etc.) for the purpose of documentation and/or communication of departmental activities and transactions in accordance with district requirements.
  • Processes documents and materials (e.g., reports, purchase orders, payment requisitions, general ledger journal entries, etc.) for the purpose of accomplishing financial transactions and disseminating information to appropriate parties in compliance with administrative guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Reconciles financial information and account balances to the District’s general ledger, Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) reports, and other documents for the purposes of maintaining accurate balances, ensuring accuracy in departmental reporting, and compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external parties, including regulatory agencies, vendors, and district personnel for the purposes of providing information, facilitating communication among parties, and/or providing direction.
  • Facilitates professional learning activities (e.g. maintenance of registration, event coordination, travel arrangements, monthly budgets, etc.).
  • Coordinates district curriculum acquisition and inventory.
  • Coordinates district gifted program logistics (e.g. assessment facilitation, contracted vendor management, communication with parents, etc.).
  • Performs a variety of record keeping and general clerical tasks (e.g., scheduling, copying, faxing, data input, filing, sorting, etc.) for the purpose of supporting departmental operations and providing assigned administrator(s) with assistance in administrative functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Previous account reconciliation and general ledger experience preferred
  • Previous school district finance experience preferred

Salary: $18.34 - $21.92/hour depending on education and previous experience.

Benefits: This is considered a full time position with benefits available after 60 days of employment.
