Purpose/IntroductionResponsibilities
- Performs work in compliance with all safety, environmental, and health regulations
- Performs work in compliance with the Lab’s Quality Manual and any site quality management systems
- Maintain proficiency in required laboratory test methods
- Proficient in adhering to and executing Lab Standard Operating Procedures
- Performs a high volume of routine tests with a short turnaround time
- Regularly gathers data for charts, records, and reports
- Verifies calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs laboratory instruments and equipment
- Communicates quality issues with operating units and other customers
- Safeguards all laboratory test results
- Uses StarLIMS (LIMS) or other applicable software for data and records documentation
- Monitors the inventory of essential laboratory supplies
- Orders supplies and services based on Company and Lab policies and procedures
- Conducts analyses of data to validate and assess the performance of test methods
- Occasional on call responsibility and occasional forced overtime
- Must possess an Associate's Degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Technician, or a related technical field from an accredited college
- Must have completed a minimum of 16 hours of Chemistry courses
- High level of personal integrity, professionalism, and a team-oriented approach
- Self-starter with minimal need for supervision after on-the-job training
- Ability to perform multiple and frequent tasks with a high level of focus and attention to detail
- Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain highly specialized instruments/equipment and software
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Familiar with using Microsoft products
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule if required
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field
- At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Experience with instrument control software
- Experience in ASTM and ISO 9001 quality systems
- Experience with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
