Position Summary
The Product Designer will design and develop Pet Products. Responsible for developing trends, color, fabrications, silhouettes, for the upcoming season as well as working with our China office to develop original textiles and patterns. The Product Designer also presents their products to external Customers for feedback and improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain an awareness of current market trends in Home and Apparel and incorporate this knowledge into new designs.
- Coordinate with Product Managers to understand and address requirements for customers, pricing, construction processes and materials.
- Engage in ongoing research and development of new inspiration and ideas utilizing relevant new finishes, colors, and fabrics, and key techniques.
- Apply creativity and originality in group and individual brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas.
- Create the silhouette, fabric and construction specifications that are sent to factories to use for product development.
- Design print & pattern artwork as well as the necessary specifications of color and repeat sizes so it can be used for fabric mass production.
- Review and revise the design and construction of factory samples to conform to specifications and cost.
- Execute final artwork for presentations to the customers.
- Travel may be required for trade shows or customer meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS or equivalent in Fashion/Apparel/Textiles
- Minimum of 2 years of experience
- Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Experience with with CLO or other 3D Software, not required, but a plus
- Experience with retouching photos via Photoshop
- Knowledge of Textiles
- Excellent design color sense.
- Ability to translate market trends to product and adapt to the brand aesthetic.
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and meet required deadlines.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Photography knowledge preferred
