10 Month Position (185 days) Works in both academic and vocational classes.
Position Purpose: This position provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment for students in grades 9-12 Special Education academic and vocational classes. This position is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control; performs all other related work as required.
Essential Functions:
Provide support for a student with a physical disability.
2. Provide support with ADLs, including toileting assistance.
Assists the teacher in planning and preparation of daily activities.
Aids instructional efforts of the teacher, and grades and marking of papers.
May lead classroom activities.
Assist children individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concerts
Supervision of students.
Prepares instructional materials and supplies for use. Tutor students as directed.
Presents subject matter to children under the guidance of a teacher utilizing a variety of methods.
Assists students to set and maintain standards of appropriate behavior.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs of the students,
Implements the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
Is available to meet with students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so.
Maintains open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning their educational and behavioral progress.
Performs other duties as needed.
Recommended Minimum Qualification
Education, Training and Experience:
Associate’s Degree, at least 48 credits of college coursework, or a Paraprofessional certification. Experience working with adolescents in a school setting.
