Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometrist to join our team at Caledonia Vision as we open our second location in the Muskegon MI area. Our focus is to enhance our already positive work culture and promote education and collaborative approach to patient care.

You will be responsible for providing full scope optometric care to our patients with a heavy emphasis on treatment of ocular surface disease and myopia management. Seeking a candidate with strong desire and willingness to educate patients on ophthalmic lens types including task or occupational lenses that meet each patient's specific visual demands.

Ideal candidate has a desire to provide niche optometry services in addition to primary care. Desires to further the profession by supervising 4th year externs during their rotations. Desires employment in a setting free from corporate or private equity oversight, where patients' needs are the top priority and doctors enjoy work life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams using advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions, ordering testing and in office procedures as required.
  • Prescribe and fit contact lenses and eyeglasses to meet patients' visual needs.
  • Educate patients on proper eye care practices, including the importance of regular eye exams, maintaining eye health, and managing any existing conditions.
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including ophthalmologists, PCP or specialty providers, opticians, and technicians, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, completed in a timely manner and in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in optometry and incorporate new technologies and techniques into practice.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
  • Current state optometry license and DEA registration.
  • Excellent clinical skills and ability to provide compassionate patient care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to patient education and satisfaction.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
