The City is accepting applications for two (2) full-time Park Attendant openings.This full time position performs routine work assisting in the operation and maintenance of parks and recreational facilities, including interactive water feature play areas. Duties include light manual and clerical work relating to revenue collection, general park maintenance and control of assigned areas. Under supervision, plans and implements a broad variety of recreational programs and park activities and services to meet the various needs of the public
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Welcomes visitors and answers incoming telephone calls. Assists patrons and supplies general information to the public. Notifies patrons of activity schedules, registration requirements and performs established registration procedures. Enforces park rules and regulations. Monitors and patrols park amenities, including dog parks and interactive water features. Monitors spectators and participants at recreational activities to ensure orderly conduct. Opens and/or closes designated facility at assigned hours of operation. Operates computerized ID/registration equipment, cash drawer, and other simple office equipment. Computes and collects fees; records financial transactions; prepares simple revenue reports. Prepares attendance reports of parks and recreational facilities. Prepares program enrollment reports for contractors. Completes inventory of athletic equipment for City programs. Completes inspections of parks furniture and City Vehicles. Completes deposit slips; maintains records of revenue collections; delivers funds to appropriate office. Maintains parks and recreational facilities and all equipment in a clean and safe state, including pump house machinery, water quality testing duties, Aventura Community Green Garden. Assists in instructing activities on playground or other recreational facilities, inspecting and issuing equipment, and organizing equipment area on playground or other recreational facilities. Works flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays.Performs other related work as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the immediate supervision of the Parks and Recreation Manager or the Parks and Recreation Assistant Manager.SUPERVISION EXERCISEDSupervises part time park attendants, contractors, and other personnel as directed.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Requires use of computerized ID/Registration equipment and occasional use of personal computer including word processing or other related software, calculator, telephone, copy machine, fax machine and other office equipment. Requires knowledge of operation of hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in grounds maintenance and building maintenance. Requires use of these aforementioned tools, machines, and equipment as required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
