Position Summary

Delaware County Community College is seeking a Temporary HR Assistant in our Human Resources department.

This position is a temporary part-time (25 hours / week) opportunity to help support employee service activities for the Human Resources team at Delaware County Community College.

The continuation of this position is for a short-term period not to exceed six months based on operational needs. Ideally, the candidate will be able to work three-five (3-5) days per week, five-eight (5-8) hours per day. Hours can be flexible.

The Human Resources Assistant performs a variety of administrative and confidential duties related to the day-to-day functioning of the department pertaining to employee services, including new hire onboarding, background screening, recordkeeping, employment verification, communicate with and respond to a variety of employee inquiries, assist with special projects, help plan / coordinate employee events, and provide general support to the HR team.

Essential Functions

Overview of Job Responsibilities

  • Provide overall administrative support for HR office activities.
  • Provide administrative support to the onboarding of new employees.
  • Respond to employee inquiries either via email, phone, or in-person.
  • Provide administrative and clerical assistance for the tracking of required background clearances and credential verifications.
  • Audit / Revise I-9 document maintenance and recordkeeping.
  • Respond to and complete external inquiries (i.e., employment verifications, mortgage applications, etc.).
  • Escalate complex questions or concerns to supervision.
  • Light clerical duties to support the Human Resources office.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education

T he Successful Candidate will have :

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in MS Office Suite of applications, integrated systems, and web-based software applications.
  • 1-2 years of work experience supporting a Human Resources function.
  • Proficient organizational skills, ability to manage multiple sets of data, possess follow-up skills and a responsive customer-service approach.
  • Exceptional ability to protect confidential and / or sensitive information and maintain integrity in record maintenance and work independently as well as in a team environment to meet individual and departmental performance objectives.
  • Required Background Clearances - Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background History, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance);
