Two (2) Project Coordinator positions will be hired to assist with planning, implementation and tracking of project activities for the summer Health Career Pathways (HCP) Workforce Health Internship Program.
The HCP model fosters partnerships with local public high schools and community colleges to build a health workforce that reflects the rich ethnic, cultural, and lived experiences of marginalized communities that face barriers to obtaining higher education and employment. HCP has provided high school students the opportunity to learn the principles of prevention, health equity, and social justice, as well as gain career insights in the health field. Through an equity-centered curriculum, students are prepared in classrooms to think critically and explore agency and government partnerships in solutions that center policy, systems and environmental change. The Students are then invited to gain valuable work-based learning experience by applying for summer internship placements in county health and community settings.
The Project Coordinators will oversee education and experiential learning elements for the HCP Workforce Health Internship Program and advise internship participants on preventive health principles, the techniques of community organization, researching equity solutions, and strategies to support new and existing community-based partner engagement efforts. Project Coordinators will serve as intern coaches and curriculum planners and facilitators for identity and professional development workshops. Project Coordinators will support program staff in planning and conducting summer activities, in-person and virtual engagement, and handling correspondence with participants and community and county program representatives. The positions will primarily require independent travel to the Martinez office and various locations throughout the county, with the possibility of being assigned additional responsibilities and tasks to support health equity initiatives and leadership requests. The Project Coordinators will track project objectives and perform additional related work as required.
