The Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas
includes 90 Parishes, 1 Mission, and 19 schools. It stretches from Quanah, Texas just Northwest of Wichita Falls in the West and extends to Penelope, Texas in the Southeast. Its largest metropolitan areas are Fort Worth, Arlington, Denton, and Wichita Falls. It has approximately 914,556 Catholics in the Diocese, including 108 Priests, 86 Deacons, and 77 Sisters. The principal duty of all employees is to assist in the mission of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas.


General Position Summary:
The Receptionist welcomes all who come into or telephones the parish office and provides administrative and related office services to staff. Position is needing a Bilingual associate speaking English and Spanish.


Duties and Responsibilities
(to include but not limited to) Performs various receptionist routines including:

  • Maintains lobby area clean and enough documents in stock.
  • Screens and routes telephone calls and responds to inquiries from parishioners by referring calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists parishioners seeking Mass requests, Mass cards and information about stipends and payments.
  • Maintains Pastors Schedule online -
  • Enters families/members into PDS system and maintains census form files at the moment parishioners register and gives the family their member number.
  • Assists with liturgical documents. – Funerals, Baptism, Special Masses
  • Programs, registers, maintains small stores, coordinate funeral information.


Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding business needs, tight deadlines and heavy workloads. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Education and Experience Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge and Skills Preferred: MUST BE BILINGUAL – English & Spanish

  • Must be highly proficient in using Microsoft Office Programs, (Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint).
  • Individual must have well developed “people skills” in interacting with all who come to the parish office.
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills; ability to interact competently and compassionately with those who call or visit the department as well as with parish staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to organize and multi-task.
  • Ability to solve practical problems while dealing with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Flexibility in accepting new or modified duties.
  • Must have ability to learn new software programs as needed.
  • Attend software training sessions as scheduled.
  • Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be bilingual (English and Spanish).
