Job Description

Substitute Teacher


Responsible to:
Principal

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to adjust to varying tasks as assigned
  • Demonstrates proper communication and personal skills

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Reports to office upon arrival at school
  • Keeps accurate record of activities and objectives for students
  • Interacts in a positive and professional manner with students and staff
  • Maintains and respects confidentiality of student and school personnel information
  • Maintains classroom management that fosters a safe and positive environment for all

students and staff in accordance with school and county policies

  • Ensures the adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,

materials and facilities

  • Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the

appropriate authority immediately or as soon as reasonably possible

  • Follows teacher lesson plans
  • Remains in classroom until students have been dismissed
  • Remains in building and on duty until the completion of the work day
  • Returns instructional materials, equipment and keys to proper place
  • Determines if his/her services will be required for the next school day
  • Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities

with School Board priorities

  • Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest

standards of public education and in support of the District's Vision/Mission
