Menzner Hardwoods Co. is seeking a Controller reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This position is based at our Marathon, WI headquarters.

Position Summary:

The Controller is a key leader who will contribute to all areas of the organization and provide strong financial leadership. This position will:

• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of the company’s financial results

• Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines

• Mentor, train, and develop the Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll teams

• Provide comprehensive financial updates to the management team by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points

• Develop budgeting goals with proper scheduling and analysis

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidating financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

• Monitor and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows

• Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures, adhering to local, state, and federal government reporting requirements

• Establish (in coordination with the CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, and reporting standards on a monthly and annual basis

• Analyze variances and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions

• Collaborate across functions to support various business initiatives

• Lead continual process improvement initiatives; identify areas of risk and direct the design, implementation, and oversight of solutions

Skills & Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
• Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
• Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Professional Certification, such as CPA, preferred
• Experience with Oracle NetSuite, preferred
