Summary

The purpose of this job within the organization is to oversee, schedule and coordinate professional level planning work in the areas of park planning, research and park land use trends.

Essential Functions

  • Inspect the work of contractors and other departments to insure that it meets requirements set out in the contract.
  • Prepares specifications and plans for park development projects.
  • Oversee the drafting of schematic plans, layout, plans construction documents and contract documents of park projects.
  • Hire, supervise, train and evaluate several subordinate employees.
  • Communicate with public to receive their input, concerns and requests.
  • Inspects work of contractors/other departments to insure that it meets requirements set out in contracts.
  • Writes reports informing management of the status of their completion/milestones.
  • Prepares reports of park development activities for management.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in landscape architecture, planning, or a related field with an additional one year of park development or landscape architecture experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience.
Valid current driver's license

Knowledge and Abilities

Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
