Job Title: Support Specialist Terms: 226 days Non-Exempt
Reports to: Director of Technology Services Department: Technology
Pay Range: $45,000-$65,000Primary PurposeAssist with design and support of hardware, software, and cloud services to help deploy, manage, track, and audit
mobile devices, users, and application services. This individual manages, maintains support, troubleshoots and
optimizes the mobile cloud environment, its related mobile devices, and suggests adjustments and new system designs
for future needs. The Support Specialist ensures that all mobile devices, user accounts, and applications are in
compliance with Lubbock-Cooper ISD policies and procedures.
QualificationsEducation/Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science preferred
  • Clear and valid Texas driver’s license, insurable with insurance carrier, and a good driving record
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Willingness and ability to diagnose, research, test, and resolve technical or technology-related problems
  • Proficiency to use basic database design concepts and programming procedures/techniques in the
implementation of mobile and security profiles
  • Knowledge of Apple School Manager, device antivirus software and MDM management services preferred
  • Knowledge of Active Directory domain service, MDM software distribution, certificate services, exchange
servers, domain controllers, single sign on systems, and LDAP preferred
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Exceptional communication, telephone, and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness and ability to work effectively and efficiently independently and with a team
  • Ability and willingness to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, bend, climb, drive
and/or be mobile
Experience
  • 3 years applicable experience in MDM technology or equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrate understanding of MDM systems and mobile device life cycle preferred
  • Demonstrate understanding of user account provisioning/deprovisioning in Active Directory and related services
PreferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Technical Support
  • Responsible for tracking of device inventory in the MDM cloud environment and performing audits of the MDM
and IT asset inventory systems.
  • Appropriately follow data privacy and policies of the district regarding student, staff, and device information
  • Telephone, e-mail, remote, and on-site problem diagnosis and resolution.
  • Administer and maintain the MDM installation and configuration systems, including but not limited to
configuration profiles, device security, and mobile apps.
  • Prioritize and execute tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Process repairs and incident reports for Windows, Apple and other devices as needed
  • Provide support for and work with other technicians that support the MDM, Apple School Manager (ASM), Active
Directory and related systems.
  • Enforce mobile device policies, patch management, content filtering, and procedures in the MDM environment.
  • Provide support for loading commercial off-the-shelf and in-house development of mobile applications/scripts
into the MDM application catalog and help deployment of those applications.
  • Collaborates in the development of training materials, workflows, and support documentation of mobile
technologies.
  • Support installations, deployments, and troubleshooting of new MDM releases and also evaluate new OS mobile
device releases for macOS, iOS, Android, Windows, and Linux.
  • Respond to requests from internal and authorized external end users in a timely manner.
  • Ability and desire to conduct research and resolve tickets from the end user community for mobile device issues
and new products.
  • Work with a team of systems administrators to plan, design, develop, build and deploy new MDM solutions.
Records and Reports
  • Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and services.
  • Assist with warranties, updates, and renewals by performing routine inventories, product registrations, and
OS/MDM system updates.
  • Maintain after hours work reports on an ongoing basis and submit monthly to the Supervisor or Director.
Other
  • Report to work on time daily and follow District attendance policies.
  • Exhibit and promote positive, professional attitude, attire, and communication at all times.
  • Use data to identify areas for improvement including training and maintenance support and report suggested
improvements to the Supervisor or Director in a timely manner.
  • Complete recommended or suggested training assigned by Supervisor or Director.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  • Work extended and irregular hours occasionally. May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day and respond to
after-hours emergencies or work during school holidays as needed.
  • Occasionally drive District vehicles in performance of tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Director.
