A hospitality group is seeking to hire an Accounting Specialist. In this seat, you will report directly to the HR Director who also helps out in the accounting department. In addition to general accounting tasks (General ledger, AP, AR) this person will also be onboarding new hires during the summer. The ideal candidate is advanced in Excel (spreadsheets, Pivot Tables, and VLOOKUPs), has payroll processing experience, and ideally has used Sage or Harpers (not required).

Duties:
- Manage accounts payable process, including reviewing and processing invoices, reconciling vendor statements, and ensuring timely payments
- Assist with financial management tasks such as budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Support the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Collaborate with the tax department to ensure accurate and timely tax filings
- Conduct technical accounting research to ensure compliance with accounting standards and best practices
- Assist with internal controls documentation and testing in accordance with SOX requirements

Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in using accounting software (e.g., Xero) and MS Office Suite
- Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis
- Familiarity with tax regulations and reporting requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
