Under the direction of the Chief Legal Officer, the Paralegal will be primarily responsible for assisting the legal department in the preparation of documents, as well as administrative support and clerical tasks. The primary focus of the role is to support the team in advocating for children with autism and preparing documents relating to obtaining reimbursement for care and treatment. This is an on-site position.
What You'll Do
  • Communicate and work directly with attorneys in the Legal Department to prioritize, collect, examine, and organize information and documents for review and case preparation
  • Prepare summary of client medical records to submit to insurance payors
  • Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents
  • Work collaboratively within a team and across departments
  • Work within the company’s proprietary technological framework to promptly update cases and streamline case management processes, supporting enhancements within the system and ensuring the accuracy of data
  • Identify and retrieve information necessary to support legal decision-making
  • Track and organize internal matters
  • Organize and maintain documents, ensuring hard copy and/or electronic management files are kept up to date when active and archived when closed
  • Provide general administrative assistance and support
  • Assist with research and other ad hoc tasks
  • No billable hours
RequirementsEducation/Experience and Other Requirements
  • Associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous familiarity with the healthcare system, insurance reimbursement, or revenue cycle management preferred
  • 5 years of experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal
  • Large law firm experience a plus
  • Minimal travel requirements
  • Must maintain clean background/drug screenings and driving record

  • Significant analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage large workloads/projects and meet deadlines, prioritize workflow
  • Able to adapt to the continual roll-out of innovative tools and processes
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, accurate proofreading
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Administrative and document management experience
  • Significant computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; plus Westlaw and other systems
  • Identifying challenges and collaborating with team members to devise creative solutions and measurable outcomes
  • Maintaining open and honest communication, always sharing information
  • Open to continual learning, teaching, and development
