State of Utah is Hiring a Right of Way Manager Near Knoxville, UT

The Utah Department of Transportation is looking for a qualified and experienced person to fill our Region Four Right of Way Manager (Engineering Associate Manager I) position in Richfield, UT. This is a management-level position and the successful candidate will be expected to work independently with little supervision.


Principal Duties

As the Right of Way Manager, your duties will include:
  • Coordination of Region Four ROW design activities for acquisition.
  • Coordination of Region Four excess/surplus property management activities, surveying, mapping, and GIS activities, as well as Region ROW customer service activities.
  • Working closely with the ROW Permits office, the ROW team, and developers or their designers to help in preparing excess/surplus packages.
  • Representing the Region in department survey standards and best practice activities.
  • Supervising a ROW team that consists of surveyors and technical staff.
  • Planning, monitoring, and performing quality assurance of all surveying activities being performed within the Region.
  • Coordination of the maintenance of existing and new right-of-way files, maps, documents, and correspondence in department and region recordkeeping systems.
  • Writing, reviewing, and negotiating grants, contracts, and agreements.
  • Making decisions independently on surveying/engineering problems and methods, and representing the organization in resolving important questions and coordinating work.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who:
  • Has five (5) or more years of Surveying, Right of Way experience in the State of Utah.
  • Has experience in the transfer or sale of real property.
  • Has a valid driver's license or is able to obtain one within the first 6 months of hire.
Preference may be given to applicants who have at least one of the following:
  • Professional Land Surveyor license or equivalent.
  • UDOT Right of Way design experience.
  • Bachelors degree in a related field of study.
  • Experience using Microstation and InRoads.
