About the Patient Account Representative Position
We are looking for a qualified Patient Account Representative to assist patients with the financial aspects of their care. You will help them understand the charges and payments on their account and provide excellent customer service.
A Patient Account Representative is a committed and compassionate professional. They have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to create a supportive environment. We expect you to be knowledgeable in patient care as well as various clinical tasks.
The goal is to facilitate the recovery of the ill and injured by providing them critical everyday assistance.
Patient Account Representative Responsibilities
- Handle all patient questions regarding insurance or other billing/payment questions whether in person or on phone daily.
- Review the daily appointment schedule to verify self-pay patients with large balances are paying on their account at least monthly. If not, mail payment plan agreement.
- Gather and send medical records for insurance companies timely.
- Process patient accounts with bankruptcies.
- Process returned mail, update patient addresses, and distribute incoming mail.
- Verify, enter a note and prepare write-off form for deceased patients’ accounts.
- Responsible to assist patients with indigent care applications and processing.
- Process credit card payments made over the phone for Delta and North Lake office.
- Assist nursing staff with authorizations and pre-certifications as needed. Upload to patient charts in the EMR.
- Schedule and set up auditors to pull charts for insurances if pull list is over 10 patients. Train them on our system as needed.
- Assist the front desk as back up
- Other duties as assigned.

- Excellent knowledge of insurance terminology
- Able to teach and thoroughly explain complex topics
- Committed to health and safety standards
- Empathetic and approachable
- CPR certified preferred
