Job Description:

The Equipment Manager will be the primary person responsible for leading corporate equipment strategy and execution. This role will align with the company's strategies for future growth and diversification. The equipment manager will be responsible for financial management and performance to ensure a successful result. This role will provide vital input into equipment acquisition, divestment, maintenance performance, and project utilization. 

Responsibilities:

  • Determine company equipment strategy to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
  • Implement policies and procedures for companywide assets.
  • Develop tracking procedures to maximize the utilization and efficiency of assets.
  • Reviews and adjusts internal rental rates based on historical performance.
  • Works directly with the project manager to determine the future needs of assets.
  • Review bids to confirm internal rental rates and maintenance costs are accurate. 
  • Work with company staff to set up and manage accounts with competitive rates and service.
  • Recommend asset purchases and divestments based on a data-driven approach. 
  • Motivate and train other members of the equipment department. 
  • Develop maintenance procedures and schedule assets for service. 
  • Train new engineers and field staff on proper equipment management and usage.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure company assets are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with equipment vendors and suppliers to ensure timely procurement of parts and equipment. 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain rapport 
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Self-motivated individual accustomed to being in a position of responsibility

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as engineering or mechanical engineering. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in equipment management. 
  • Strong knowledge of heavy construction equipment, including maintenance, repair, and operation.
  • Experience working in office settings. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
