Operations Supervisor Job Description
As the Operations Supervisor, we'll count on you to inspire the team to continuously raise the bar, while taking responsibility for all day-to-day operational responsibilities.
Operations Supervisor Responsibilities
Report directly to the Director of Operations and Customer Service
Supervise the daily workload of the Account Manager team; provide guidance to ensure business needs are met and assisting wherever needed to complete daily tasks
Distribute and assess daily KPI's for operations team
Interact daily with customers and carriers to ensure existing and emerging needs are understood and met
Distribute and assess current SOPs, manage by exception, and identify key opportunities for improvement; work closely with leadership to address potential strategic, tactical, and operating issues
Working with the Logistics Coordinator Supervisor, ensure that all loads are in the correct status throughout the day, along with checking on loads with improper revenue and loads that are not released for invoicing
Monitor emails while making sure response time is under 15 minutes to customers while also being the safety net for unknown emails and emails that are unanswered
Ensure all computers and phones are operational daily, ensure that on call/after-hours is handled
Facilitate customer bids
Help facilitate the claim process with our customer base
Personal/Training:
Encourage the team to self-identify operational improvements in all modes of transportation
Train and develop employees while understanding how their work relates to the customers' business objectives to ensure customer and carrier satisfaction
Provide effective, two-way communication that informs and motivates as well as recognizes excellence among team members
Monitor and approve PTO requests ensuring adequate business coverage is provided throughout the year, and providing relief coverage when necessary
Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards and provide coaching and counseling to associates
Ensure that performance metrics are specific, measurable, and are being achieved at both the individual and team levels
Keep a file on every employee for any kind of misconduct, tardiness, missing work, or anything that is not compliant with the Employee Handbook, along with positive feedback and praise from customers, carriers, or coworkers
Responsible for making corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level
Ensure that customers and carriers are effectively managed and held accountable through measurement of performance and continuous improvement, including delivery performance, quality improvement, cost reduction/control, and response time
Involved in the hiring process and customer meetings as necessary
Motivate and engage associates by focusing on team accomplishments and recognition
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 year of industry experience in Logistics Brokerage leading a team
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills and a dynamic personality
Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask
Legendary customer service skills
Work ethic second to none
Business-minded, with an ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
