Job Description:

An Equipment and Material Hauler plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the maintenance department. This position primarily involves the timely and efficient delivery of parts, tools, and equipment to designated locations within an organization. Equipment and Material Hauler are responsible for maintaining an organized inventory, coordinating with relevant departments, and contributing to overall productivity and workflow.

Responsibilities:

  • Parts Retrieval: Retrieve and gather parts, tools, and materials from storage areas, suppliers, or other designated locations. Ensure the accuracy of items picked and cross-reference with inventory lists or purchase orders.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory system, tracking stock levels, and reporting shortages or excesses to the appropriate department. Implement first-in, first-out (FIFO) and other inventory management practices as necessary.
  • Delivery and Distribution: Safely transport parts and materials to the requested department or job site using appropriate vehicles, such as delivery vans, forklifts, or carts. Ensure the safe handling of fragile or hazardous items.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with colleagues, supervisors, and procurement teams to understand urgent requests and changes in priorities. Collaborate with relevant departments to coordinate deliveries and optimize workflow.
  • Documentation: Complete delivery logs, packing slips, and other necessary paperwork accurately. Record quantities, condition, and other relevant details of items delivered and received.
  • Quality Control: Inspect items for damage or defects before delivery and report any issues to the appropriate personnel. Ensure that the quality of delivered parts meets organizational standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, and follow safety regulations while operating vehicles and handling materials.
  • Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of delivery vehicles and equipment to ensure their safe and efficient operation. Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
  • Problem-Solving: Address any delivery-related issues or discrepancies promptly, working to find solutions that minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Time Management: Prioritize deliveries based on urgency and deadlines to optimize workflow and minimize downtime for other departments.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic inventory management principles.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Ability to operate delivery vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must have 2 years experience driving a commercial vehicle
  • Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License
