POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant position is responsible for serving as a team leader in the accounting department and ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
• Develops and implements systems throughout the department for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies.
• Maintain depreciation schedules and other balance sheet supporting work papers.
• Develops and implements systems throughout the department for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies.
• Creates forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.
• Prepare bank reconciliations
• Assist outside auditors with yea-end review
• Must have regular and predictable attendance

OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

•  Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
•  Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent number of years of experience plus five years of accounting experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• CPA designation

REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

• Must be detail oriented
• Must have high level of accuracy 
• Must display ethical conduct and maintain confidentiality

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
