POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Quality Engineer shall provide the organization with technical expertise, determine project inspection requirements, develop and maintain project quality plans, educate and train personnel on inspection principals, collect defect data, and perform root cause analysis of defects. The Quality Engineer is also responsible for preparing well organized reports that communicate organizational and project performance data.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

●Develop and maintain Inspection test Plans (including subcontracted service scopes as needed).

●Develop and maintain Control Plans.

●Develop and implement appropriate data collection methods for the Quality department and others as needed.

●Participate in and/or hold DFMEA / PFMEA discussions.

●Analyze and communicate organizational performance and non-conformance data.

●Participate in engineering design reviews to provide technical quality support.

●Work internal to the quality department to highlight trending issues and open corrective actions to resolve.

●Perform initial and periodic Supplier Quality Audits.

●Assist in working through external nonconformances and issues.

●Will participate in individual education and development programs.

●Stay abreast of all standards, codes, and regulations relevant to TAS.

●Support achievement of quality department objectives.

●Any other work assigned by TAS.

●Expert in common industrial manufacturing processes (raw material processing, welding, coating, assembly, etc).

●Expert in interpreting engineering drawings or specifications to determine product compliance.

●Intermediate in Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods.

●Intermediate in Quality data analytics and interpretation.

●Intermediate in Engineering design principles and design philosophies.

●Intermediate in utilization of different software programs and can work in many simultaneously.

●Basic understanding of metrology and measuring devices and principles.

●Basic understanding of metallurgical principles (MTRs, basic ASTM interpretation of materials, testing to include tensile, Charpy and micro-etch).

●Can easily develop frequency distributions, cause and effect diagrams, Pareto analysis, pivot tables, control charts and basic statistics.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

●Bachelor degree in a technical discipline from an accredited four-year program.

●ASQ certification in Quality Engineering (Or approved equivalent).

●ASQ certification in Root Cause Analysis (Or approved equivalent).

●ASQ certification in Internal Auditing (Or approved equivalent).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

10 years in:

●Nonconformance investigations.

●Corrective Action investigations.

●Welding and fabrication techniques.

●Good Manufacturing (mechanical/electrical) installation practices.

5 years in:

●Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

●Bachelor degree in Quality Engineering from an accredited four-year program.

●Certified ASQ Quality Manager is a plus.

●Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt is a plus.

●Knowledge of new technologies and their application (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, etc).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position is at least 50% to 75% at a desk working with a computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to outside environmental conditions.
