The Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island is a well-established Non-Profit Organization in East and West Hawaii. We are currently recruiting for an accountant to fill a vacant position in the Finance Department. This position is Full Time, Permanent, 40 hours per week and will be assisting the Finance Director in various areas and locations. Salary Range: $50,000 to $55,000 based upon education and experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all functions related to Accounts Receivables and Payables, posting of invoices and deposits. Weekly reviews matching general ledger balance to subsidiary ledgers and other duties related to Accounts Receivables and Payables as assigned.
  • Reconcile assigned bank accounts including the posting of bank charges, interest earned, manual checks/deposits and mortgage payments.
  • Responsible for preparing and self-reviewing general ledger journal entries and reconciliations for accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable accounting principles.
  • Prepare monthly allocations of expenses to various departments and grants maintaining records as required for backup documentation.
  • Assists the Finance Director with the month-end closing process.
  • Prepares or assists with billing for programs operated by Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island.
  • Prepares payroll payables as required ensuring that general ledger accounts have reconciled to the payroll journal.
  • Provide payroll processing duties to the Payroll Specialist as needed.
  • Prepare required and requested monthly, quarterly, or other requested reports such as needed.
  • Aids in departmental correspondence, records and other documentation as requested.
  • Assist with the annual audit as requested.
  • Assist with the creation and revision of the budget process.
  • Provide back up to the receptionist, Fiscal Support Specialist, and other administrative or program positions.
  • Attending required meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain compliance with the National Boys and Girls Club of America requirements and the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island Employee Handbook.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Finance Director or other designated person; performs other assignments for which employee is qualified within other areas of the company as requested by the Finance Director, and Chief Executive Officer or other designated person due to staff sho1tages or temporary emergencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field.
  • Two (2) to Five (5) plus years of accounting experience (Two years of Non-Profit experience strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge of reporting requirements for 501c3 organizations.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized and ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
